At about 6am the first golden rays pierce the horizon, silhouetting the 5,200-metre peak of Mount Kenya, Africa's second highest mountain.
As the new day awakens at the Altura farm the air is sharp, clean and cold, carrying the scent of damp earth, eucalyptus, indigenous forests and moorland.
Colobus monkeys skip through branches of the cedar trees. Bushbucks graze on flowers and berries. Augur Buzzards soar, seeking out their early morning prey.
Meanwhile something silent and remarkable is happening below: the almost invisible growth of one of nature's most beautiful, elegant creations.

Benefitting from a combination of our equatorial and local mountain microclimates we produce premium, luxury-grade roses. And because the Altura farm ranges in altitude from 2,200 – 2,400 metres we are able to grow a remarkably wide variety of the flower that has come to stand for love, passion and beauty.
